Treating Bipolar Disorder from a Systemic Perspective
Couples therapy is often overlooked as a viable treatment option for bipolar disorder despite research that suggests a reciprocal relationship between bipolar symptoms and couple functioning. Systemic models have the potential to offer therapists a framework to integrate bipolar disorder treatment into couples therapy, but there is little information or support on how to carry this out in treatment. I hope to have the opportunity to share my knowledge, offer support, and develop partnerships with other clinicians devoted to treating bipolar disorder in the context of couple relationships.
