Your Core Relationship Needs are the Same as Any Other Couple...
...to feel loved, accepted by, and connected to your partner and have confidence that your partner will be there for you in times of need.
I work with partners to help them gain insight into their unique experiences of bipolar disorder in the context of their relationship. As an emotionally focused therapist I collaborate with my couples to identify & exit negative cycles that keep them locked in conflict and disconnection so they can turn to one another for support and comfort.
No two individuals will experience bipolar disorder symptoms and mood episodes in exactly the same way. As a result, managing bipolar disorder is not a one size fits all process. By strengthening the emotional connection between you and your partner, you will build a stronger foundation from which to communicate about bipolar disorder, collaborate in its management, and reduce the stress that bipolar disorder can place on your relationship. |
Regardless of your goals, integrating traditional couples therapy with bipolar management can help you and your partner improve your quality of your relationship. I work collaboratively with couples to find the unique balance between relationship enhancement and support for collaborative illness management.
